A couple of days ago we escaped the Swiss winter and travelled to the beautiful Spanish island of Gran Canaria where I am preparing the photo shoot of our spring summer collection campaign. Staying at the Salobre Golf Resort – a hotel that is situated in the mountains with views above the immense dunes of Maspalomas – we find tranquillity, peace our mind in yoga classes and enjoy the mild climate. The best thing of this place are definitely the views and the fact that it is half empty in February.
Also the fantastic hotelspa is on our daily list.
While I am exploring the sets, planning outfits and coordinating my local photo shooting team, my significant other cycles in the mountains and runs around the vast golf courses in order to get fit for the next Ironman competition.
Our favorite restaurant is next door to our hotel, the exquisite gourmet restaurant Sidecar. We already tested half of the menu and were totally amazed by their fried aubergine with honey and sesame seeds.
This February we visited the MICAM, Milan’s well known shoe trade fair. It was the first time and we were so amazed by the beautiful and many luxury European Made shoes. We found a couple of Italian manufacturers with an outstanding quality and authentic brand history – most of them are Italian family businesses. I will present the new labels in our news section of my blog area. We also attended the MICAM fashion show – have a look:
We stayed in a beautiful suite at the World Hotel Cristofero Colombo – a recently renovated and comfortable hotel with a nice spa just a few minutes away from our favorite city quarter, the Quadrilatero della Moda with the beautiful area of Brera with its pedestrian zone stuffed with beautiful boutiques, restaurants and bars.
The hotel was also next door to the beautiful park Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli where we had one of our spring shooting last year. The park is like an oasis in this hectic city, full of dog walkers, children and joggers.
Last week we spent a romantic night in the beautiful Italian city of Como before heading further to Milan. Como is situated right next to the famous Como lake.
We stayed in the beautiful B&B Palazzo Albricci Peregrini, a true jewel in the old town. The palace has been carefully renovated in a clean and yet authentic style.
We also enjoyed a stunning tasting menu in the nearby located restaurant The market place, the fusion food temple of Davide Maci.
After a good sleep in our cozy chalet-style suite with wooden beams , cozy blankets and a fireplace we woke up refreshed in the morning and were spoiled with a delicious breakfast with many self-made products. As the B&B is quite small, there is only one big wooden table for all the guests so that you feel as if you are joining a family’s get-together.
We also used the opportunity of being in this beautiful place to showcase some of my favorite pieces of the Fall Winter collection.
After a short walk and some window-shopping of the beautiful boutiques nearby we already had to leave this great place again as the MICAM, Milan’s shoe trade fair, was on the plan.
My favorite restaurant in Milan is Da Giacomo in has a beautiful Art Deco interior and a great service by a welcoming and professional staff that is always around whenever you need them and still give enough privacy. You can just stop by for lunch, but should reserve a table for dinner as the restaurant is often fully booked in the evening. I strongly recommend this place – the prices are right for the service and quality of food that you get.
